MMPI Study on Insomniac Psychiatry Outpatients

Abstract
|
|
|
In order to investigate about personality characteristics of insomniac psychiatry outpatients, the authors have tried to evaluate personality difference between 43 insomniacs and 228 non-insomniacs psychiatry outpatients, as measured by the MMPI.
The result of the study were as follows
1) The rate of insomnia is a higher incidence in women than in men, and the older age group than the younger and middle age group.
2) In a comparison of the MMPI scores of insomniac with non-insomniac, insomniac subjects had elevated D & Pt scales than non-insomniac subjects.
3) MMPI code type in insomniac showed predominant 312 or 132(the hysterical conversion code with secondary depression), 213 or 231(somatized depression) and 27 or 72 (anxious depression).
4) The older age group showed elevation on scale Hs than the middle and younger age group, on the other hand decreased on scale Pt.
